From now to 31 March 2003, visitors to Thailand who use their Visa and Visa Electron cards will enjoy special discounts of 10 to 80 percent at more than 400 participating leading department stores and retail outlets. Mr. Somboon Krobteerawong, Visa International's Country Manager for Thailand and Indochina, said, "This is the fourth year we are running 'Discover Thailand with Visa'. We have nearly doubled the number of merchants who are participating in the program, and they cover more categories, including shopping, dining, accommodation, tours, as well as recreation. Thailand is already one of the most popular destinations in Asia for Visa cardholders, we expect the new campaign will encourage more travelers to visit Thailand and make their trips
more enjoyable with more benefits and savings."
Thailand is among the top three travel destinations for international Visa cardholders, and within Asia Pacific, it is most popular among visiting cardholders from Japan, Hong Kong, Australia and Singapore. Through the various Visa promotions with TAT, annual Visa card spend by international visitors to Thailand contributed over US $1,470 million in tourism revenue in Thailand last year.
In addition to special discounts, Visa and Visa Electron overseas cardholders will receive complimentary gifts from participating department stores for every Bht 5,000, Bht 10,000 and Bht 20,000 that they spend in the department store.
