DELTA LAUNCHES CODESHARE FLIGHTS TO INDIA

Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL), the world's second largest carrier in terms of passenger numbers and the leading U.S. airline across the Atlantic, has announced plans to launch codeshare services to India in conjunction with Air France and Alitalia, members of the SkyTeam airlines alliance network.

Delta plans to codeshare on Air France flights from Paris to Delhi and Mumbai and on Alitalia flights from Milan to Mumbai. 

"By adding these codeshare services to our flight schedule, we will offer business and leisure travellers a total of 20 weekly flights to India's two largest cities," said Ben Darnell, Delta's director - alliances.

"India's strongly emerging economy and population of over one billion, makes it among the world's most important aviation markets."

Delta and Air France codeshare service will be launched on June 17, 2002, followed by the Delta / Alitalia agreement on July 1st, 2002.

Air France flies to 214 destinations in 91 countries and has a predominant position in France, Europe's largest domestic market. Alitalia operates 869 daily flights to 107 destinations in 53 countries.

Delta Air Lines, the world's second largest carrier in terms of passengers carried and the leading U.S. airline across the Atlantic, offers 5,581 flights each day to 410 destinations in 72 countries on Delta, Delta Express, Delta Shuttle, Delta Connection carriers and Delta's worldwide partners.
