TRAVEL CORPORATION OF INDIA EYES DUBAI CRUISE TERMINAL FOR PASSENGER EXCHANGE

Travel Corporation (India) Pvt. Ltd. (TCI), India's premier privately owned travel and tour organization offering a wide range of travel and tour services in India and worldwide, displayed a keen desire to ply the Arabian Gulf with their imminent cruise line operations in 2003.

This was discussed at the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing’s (DTCM) Head Office yesterday (August 10th) between TCI Director, Adi J. Katgara and DTCM Manager Missions, Hamad bin Mejren.

“Securing the support of major tour operators and travel agents has been an integral part of the DTCM's drive to build a broader marketing base in any market and TCI is one of the largest and oldest Indian travel agency with diversified business interests,” said Mr. bin Mejren.

He noted that TCI handled a client roster of 250,000 last year including both inbound and outbound from India and represent major cruise lines.

Mr. Katgara commented that his company would be commencing cruise operations from 2003 and were looking at plying through the Arabian Gulf region during the monsoon season.

TCI has won the Government of India National Tourism Award for excellence in the travel industry 15 times and has received several other prestigious industry awards in India and internationally. 

Mr. Katgara, himself was the very first recipient of American Society of Travel Agents' (ASTA) 'Travel Agent of the Year' Award in 1976.

TCI is the preferred agent/G.S.A. in India for leading international travel trade companies including Eurail, Amtrak, Greyhound, Japan Rail, Walt Disney World® Resort, Cosmos, Carnival Cruises, Costa Cruises, Royal Olympic Cruises and Star Cruises among others.

A comprehensive itinerary covering Dubai’s attractions as well as meetings with key public and private sector officials was planned for Mr. Katgara including a presentation on the destination.
