Galileo International, a leading provider of electronic global distribution services for the travel industry, today announced the addition of Cambodian start-up Mekong Airlines to its computer reservation system. Travel agency and corporate customers of Galileo are now able to access this Asia Pacific carrier's full itinerary and pricing schedule.
"We are delighted to have this opportunity to market our product through Galileo, whose presence in 116 countries will play an important role in establishing our brand," said Ross Pollock, Mekong Airlines Commercial Manager.
"Congratulations to Mekong Airlines on its successful launch," said Janie Kaung, executive vice president and managing director of Galileo's Asia Pacific region. "With the addition of this new Asia Pacific regional carrier, Galileo continues to enhance the rich content it offers to its travel agency customers. We look forward to assisting Mekong Airlines as it expands its services, which are available now to Galileo's 47,000 agency locations around the world."
Mekong Airlines announced in June that it had secured air traffic rights and slot times at all its domestic and international destinations, including Siem Reap, Battambang, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Hong Kong and Guangzhou. In addition, General Sales Agent offices have been established in all international destinations, with four local agents in Phnom Penh appointed to act as consolidated ticket outlets.
Mekong's first two aircraft are a 150-seat Airbus A320 - offering business and economy classes- and a 48-seat ATR 42. An additional two Airbus A320s and one ATR 42 are planned for delivery before year's end.
Mekong Airlines joins approximately 500 airlines already participating in Galileo's global distribution system. Galileo also provides its agency customers with inventory and information on 34 car rental suppliers, 227 hotel suppliers, 431 tour operators and all major cruise lines.
