Six Senses Hotels, Resorts & Spas has just received the go-ahead to expand further in Thailand and develop a luxurious new all-villas hideaway resort on the paradise island of Koh
Samui.
Development is
now underway and the resort, to be called the Evason Hideaway Samui, is scheduled to open in early 2004.
Located on the northern-most tip of Samui Island, on the cape of Samrong Bay, Evason Hideaway Samui will be positioned as
one of the island's premiere luxury resorts.
It will comprise 69 private villas, each with panoramic views over the Gulf of Thailand and nearby islands - and nearly all with private swimming pools.
"We're aiming at the very top end of the Koh Samui market," said Six Senses founder and CEO, Sonu
Shivdasani.
Evason Hideaway Samui will become the third Evason resort in as many years by Six Senses, and is set to be the new flagship property for the Evason Hideaway sub-brand. In 2002 the leading Asian resort group opened The Evason Phuket and The Evason Hua
Hin.
Of the 69 villas, 53 will feature private swimming pools measuring at least five metres by three
metres.
"The 'pool villa' concept has proved to be a run-away success for us in Hua Hin," said Mr Shivdasani. "We expect it to be similarly well-received in Koh
Samui."
Villas will range in size from a generous 105 square metres for a Hideaway Villa, to 138 square metres for the Evason Pool Villa and a luxurious 175 square metres for an Evason Pool Villa Suite, which will include a living room that may be used as a second bedroom, plus a second bathroom with outside shower and
sala.
The Presidential Villa will offer the ultimate in luxury, designed over 514 square metres and including a lush tropical garden.
As with all Evason Resorts, an award-winning Six Senses Spa will offer a range of holistic wellness, rejuvenation and pampering treatments.
Six Senses Spas has just been named Asia Pacific's 'Best Spa Group' in TTG Asia Media's Annual Travel Awards 2002. The Six Senses Spa at the group's "beyond stars" flagship resort, Soneva Fushi in the Maldives, was recently voted '3rd Best Spa in the World' by the discerning Gallivanters' Guide to luxury
hideaways.
Also, in the Evason tradition, Evason Hideaway Samui will feature an exceptional wine cellar complimenting eclectic 'East meets West' restaurant cuisine. A gift shop will present a range of distinctive items, and a Board Room will cater for corporate meetings and events.
Evason Hideaway Samui is a ten-minute drive from the island's delightful airport, which is served by frequent direct services from Bangkok, Phuket, Hua Hin, Pattaya and international services from Singapore. The resort's opening will also coincide with the completion of Koh Samui's first golf course. |
