Utell Ltd. announced the
appointment of Christine Tan to the position of vice president of hotel services for the Asia-Pacific (ASPAC) region. Tan will be based
in Utell's Singapore office. Headquartered in London, Utell is the world's largest
hotel representation company(1) and is a subsidiary of Dallas-based Pegasus
Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq: PEGS), a leading provider of hotel reservations-related
services and technology.
Tan brings more than 14 years of experience in central reservation
operations, sales and marketing, e-channels distribution and revenue management. Tan is
charged with overseeing the hotel services division for ASPAC and building the
company's presence in the region, as well as working to ensure Utell's 500
member hotels in the ASPAC region obtain maximum value from Utell's services.
Tan recently served as director of member development in Utell's Los
Angeles office, where she was responsible for attracting, qualifying and acquiring new
hotel members in North America. Prior to joining Utell, Tan was the founder and
managing director of Hospitality Consulting, an independent consulting network
that focuses on e-business, revenue management, sales and marketing research,
education and advisory services for the hospitality industry. Tan was formerly a
senior vice president and partner at The HEMS Group, a hospitality consulting
company focused on a proprietary revenue management process. She also served as director of international
reservation systems for ANA Hotels International, a division of All Nippon Airways Co. Ltd.
"We are proud to promote Christine Tan to our most senior executive
position in the Asia-Pacific region," said Kass Kassum, senior vice president of hotel
services for Utell. "Christine's background in marketing and electronic
distribution, as well as her skills with revenue and yield management, will greatly
assist her in continuing to strengthen Utell's relationships with its hotel members
in Asia-Pacific."
"Asia Pacific is an important high growth region for Utell," said Tan.
"We need to work closely with our member hotels to ensure they understand and practice
good business and revenue management processes during these tough economic times. Accordingly, over the next few
months, we intend to launch new training programs, a new hotel rate strategy and revenue maximization initiatives
that will help drive more revenues to our hotels. With our 'same hotel sales'
reservations numbers in Asia during the third quarter of 2002 up 10 percent over
the same period last year, Utell remains a leader in the Asian travel industry, and I
look forward to helping the Company continue to achieve success in this region." |
