Sanctuary Resorts, the Hong Kong based resort management company creating holistic resorts where people balance their body, mind and spirit, has signed a management and development contract with Hotel de la Paix, Siem Reap, Cambodia.
The new resort, on which construction is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2002, will be scheduled for opening in November 2003. Hotel de la Paix - a Sanctuary Resort, will feature 100 guest rooms averaging 40 sq. mtr and is set in central Siem Reap, on the site of the former, French colonial hotel with the same name, which was built in the beginning of the last century.
The four storey development will be contemporary Asian in design and will reflect modern Indo-Chinese values and a forward looking interpretations of the cultural aspects of Cambodia and the region.
Explaining the concepts, Michel van der Hoeven, who is managing the Mekong region for Sanctuary Resorts, states "We will not dwell on Cambodia's glorious Khmer past but instead focus on balancing the past with a contemporary, and forward looking resort concept not yet seen in this part of the region".
In commenting on his choice for Sanctuary Resorts, Sokoun Chanpreda, the owner of the development felt that besides the ample expertise and dedication as a resort management company, Sanctuary Resorts' vision & mission of managing high end resorts where guests can balance their body, mind and spirit in a environmentally sustainable place, will complement the hotel's philosophy and concepts.
Andrew Jones, Guardian and founder of Sanctuary Resorts added that the neighbouring Ankor Wat's spirituality would be a perfect place for the personal development, meditation and other self improvement programs, which Sanctuary Resorts will implement.
