The Layan, which recently appointed Hong Kong based operator of holistic resorts “Sanctuary Resorts” as its management company, has commenced the first phase of its re-positioning.
The first phase of the re-positioning will focus on operational service standards, upgrade of service and facilities and synchronising the resort’s body, mind and spirit programs with those of Sanctuary Resorts.
The upgrade will include enlarging the bathrooms of The Layan’s deluxe rooms and adding sunken bathtubs and panoramic view windows in the bathrooms to increase the perception of nature and balance.
Other improvements already started, include upgrade of walkways, stairs, the main restaurant as well as adding an air-condition Thai restaurant and sun-set bar at the beach front. In addition a multi purpose meditation / yoga room will be built next to the large Layana spa complex at the resort’s secluded beach.
Explaining the upgrades, Michel van der Hoeven, who heads the regional office of Sanctuary Resorts, states “Although the facilities of The Layan are of excellent standard, we felt that a more consistent product will benefit the overall resort experience, and should enable a more thorough opportunity to balance ones body, mind and spirit. Services, which will be tailored to the requirements of our discerning clientele, will include consultation on Dosha (which is the knowledge of ones elements according to Ayurvedic science), light and healthy
contemporary restaurant menus (without the stress of limiting once choice), as well as an increase in the number of spa programs and
treatments".
Andrew Jones, guardian and founder of Sanctuary Resorts added “that with the physical improvements and new services, The Layan will be able to capture a niche market and better cater to the requirements of its guests. The introduction of new programs in the resort will furthermore focus on a holistic approach of the whole experience; something which is the essence of each Sanctuary Resort”.
The first phase of the re-positioning phase will be completed by November 2002, after which the resort will be known as The Layan – A Sanctuary Resort. New collateral and a new and revitalized look of the brochure will be presented during WTM 2002, where The Layan, as well as the other Sanctuary Resorts will be represented.
