Six Continents Hotels Appoints Director of Sales to Vanuatu and New Caledonia

3 July 2002

Six Continents Hotels today announced the appointment of Carol Gordon as Director of Sales for Vanuatu and New Caledonia - a new position that has been established to enhance cross-marketing opportunities between the South Pacific, Australia and New Zealand.

Based in Sydney alongside Six Continents Hotels' Regional Sales Office and commencing 11 June, Carol will be responsible for creating opportunities to increase the profitability of the Group's hotels in Vanuatu and New Caledonia including Crowne Plaza Vanuatu Resort, Parkroyal Noumea, Parkroyal Escapade Island, Noumea and Le Pacifique Hotel, Noumea.

Carol will also manage communication between the individual teams in Vanuatu and New Caledonia and their counterparts in Australia and New Zealand to maximise cross-marketing opportunities with the region.

With over 20 years experience in the travel industry with a strong background in the areas of wholesale, leisure and conferencing, Carol's appointment is an important step for building upon and increasing opportunities for Six Continents Hotels' existing portfolio in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.

"With the creation of the Director of Sales role for Vanuatu and New Caledonia, we are working towards creating closer communication ties between our portfolio of properties in this region," said Six Continents Hotels' Chief Operating Officer for Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific, Phil Lee.

"There are strong opportunities in both Vanuatu and New Caledonia to increase our share of leisure and business travellers, and Carol's extensive experience in both of these areas will be an asset in striving to achieve this goal," Mr Lee said.
