Air New Zealand has doubled code sharing arrangements with fellow Star Alliance partner Lufthansa German Airlines, adding a second daily Frankfurt - Los Angeles return service.
The new service, starting Sunday 5 May, boosts significantly Air New Zealand's ability to deliver European tourists to Australia and New Zealand, connecting with daily southbound flights from LA to Auckland, and three weekly nonstop services from LA to Sydney.
Air New Zealand also offers onward service from Auckland to Melbourne, Brisbane, Cairns and Perth.
Air New Zealand's Vice President Australia, Mr Paul Donovan, said the new code share services were a major advance by the airline as it moved to strengthen its contribution to inbound tourism in the Australasian region.
"International tourism is a major industry for Australia and New Zealand, and Air New Zealand is a major contributor," said Mr Donovan.
"The second daily service from Frankfurt to Los Angeles provides another opportunity for European visitors to fly to Australia and New Zealand, via the USA, using the combination of Lufthansa and Air New Zealand services.
"The introduction of a second Frankfurt - Los Angeles code share flight also reflects our confidence that the international air travel market is recovering, and that Australia and New Zealand can benefit from this."
The new Frankfurt - Los Angeles code share coincides with the launch by Air New Zealand of a second weekly Los Angeles - Auckland - Cairns flight connection, and the introduction of additional Air New Zealand services from Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington to Brisbane and from Auckland to Perth.
Air New Zealand is member of Star Alliance, a partnership of quality airlines offering services to more than 890 destinations in 129 countries. |
