On Saturday June 1 JAL will introduce the first JAL B767-300ER to join the JAL fleet (Flight JL953/June 1st: Narita-Seoul). The aircraft is part of the replacements for MD-11 and DC-10-40 aircraft now being phased out of the JAL fleet.
With an operational range of more than 10,000 kilometers and greater fuel efficiency than JAL's current B767s, the new version will be introduced on routes from Japan to and from Korea, China and South East Asia during the year.
JAL's B767-300ER aircraft will offer two-class service: JAL Executive Class 'SEASONS' (JAL's business class brand) and economy class. The aircraft will be equipped with the latest version of JAL'S "Skyluxe seat" in business class with 47" (119 cm) seat pitch. The economy class seats are a new design, featuring adjustable headrests and footrests.
An upgraded in-flight entertainment system, MAGIC 3, will be introduced on these new aircraft, with new, bigger 9 inch individual video monitors for in Executive class.
The MAGIC 3 system offers video on demand to Executive class and economy class passengers, a service feature hitherto available only to passengers in first and business class. The MAGIC 3 system also includes audio and game channels.
The new B767-300ER is equipped with a "barrier-free" restroom for physically challenged passengers. Located in the economy class cabin at the rear of the aircraft, the facility has a wider door and greater interior area to accommodate passengers in wheelchairs.
