The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) announced that hoteliers in Dubai are displaying a keen interest in employing students who have successfully completed their Career Development Summer Programme (CDSP) with Jumeirah International, Dutco Hotels and Sofitel City Centre Hotel and Residence leading the faction.

“Several hoteliers have come forward to employ students who have completed the CDSP and this is a clear indication that the programme is extremely successful in grooming UAE nationals for careers in the tourism and hospitality industry,” said DTCM Director Operations and Marketing, Mohammed Khamis bin Hareb.

He noted that in addition to Jumeirah International, Dutco Hotels and Sofitel, other properties too have indicated an avid interest in signing on the CDSP students.

The CDSP is being organized in conjunction with the Ministry of Education & Youth, TANMIA - The National Human Resources Development and Employment Authority and The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management and is designed to provide UAE national youths and students with a comprehensive learning experience.

The objectives of the CDSP are to increase awareness among participants about the career development and employment opportunities available within the tourism sector available for UAE nationals and to enhance their skills to prepare them for jobs in this sector.

“The DTCM is earnestly working at creating improved employment opportunities for UAE nationals in the tourism industry and the CDSP is one such initiative,” Mr. bin Hareb said.

Ghanem Al Marri, Human Resources Manager at Jebel Ali Hotel (Dutco Hotels) said “We are processing the papers and two dynamic UAE nationals will be joining our properties shortly and we are open to taking on more capable professionals from the UAE to join our workforce.”

“The CDSP is a carefully planned learning program designed to improve the quality and breadth of learning by providing students the opportunity of blending academic study with related, work based tourism industry training,” added DTCM Executive National Training, Ahmed Al Shamsi.

The students undergo on-line learning, English, IT and a multitude of site visits that will enable them to better comprehend the many aspects of the tourism and hospitality industry as part of the programme.
