The
Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM)
announced that hoteliers in Dubai are displaying a keen interest
in employing students who have successfully completed their
Career Development Summer Programme (CDSP) with Jumeirah
International, Dutco Hotels and Sofitel City Centre Hotel and
Residence leading the faction.
“Several
hoteliers have come forward to employ students who have
completed the CDSP and this is a clear indication that the
programme is extremely successful in grooming UAE nationals for
careers in the tourism and hospitality industry,” said DTCM
Director Operations and Marketing, Mohammed Khamis bin Hareb.
He
noted that in addition to Jumeirah International, Dutco Hotels
and Sofitel, other properties too have indicated an avid
interest in signing on the CDSP students.
The
CDSP is being organized in conjunction with the Ministry of
Education & Youth, TANMIA - The National Human Resources
Development and Employment Authority and The Emirates Academy of
Hospitality Management and is designed to provide UAE national
youths and students with a comprehensive learning experience.
The
objectives of the CDSP are to increase awareness among
participants about the career development and employment
opportunities available within the tourism sector available for
UAE nationals and to enhance their skills to prepare them for
jobs in this sector.
“The
DTCM is earnestly working at creating improved employment
opportunities for UAE nationals in the tourism industry and the
CDSP is one such initiative,” Mr. bin Hareb said.
Ghanem
Al Marri, Human Resources Manager at Jebel Ali Hotel (Dutco
Hotels) said “We are processing the papers and two dynamic UAE
nationals will be joining our properties shortly and we are open
to taking on more capable professionals from the UAE to join our
workforce.”
“The
CDSP is a carefully planned learning program designed to improve
the quality and breadth of learning by providing students the
opportunity of blending academic study with related, work based
tourism industry training,” added DTCM Executive National
Training, Ahmed Al Shamsi.
The
students undergo on-line learning, English, IT and a multitude
of site visits that will enable them to better comprehend the
many aspects of the tourism and hospitality industry as part of
the programme.
