Last Thursday, Malaysia Airlines turned over two passengers to the police authorities in Chennai, India for their disruptive behaviour in-flight.
The two passengers returning to India on Malaysia Airlines flight MH180/22 August 2002 from Kuala Lumpur to Chennai created trouble with other passengers on board and became violent, ignoring the cabin staff's request to maintain order during the journey.
The matter was reported to the flight captain who alerted the authorities in Chennai Airport immediately. On arrival of the flight in Chennai, the police officials boarded aircraft and escorted the two passengers to the police station for further investigation.
Subsequent to the investigation, the police established 'prima facie' case against the two passengers and charged them in court where they were fined.
Commenting on the incident, Dr Mohamadon Abdullah, the airline's Senior General Manager (Corporate Services) said, "Malaysia Airlines' personnel acted swiftly against the two passengers as their behaviour not only disrupted the comfort of other passengers but also posed a threat to the safety of the passengers and the aircraft. We are fully committed to ensure safe air travel for our customers and the action taken should serve as a reminder to those who breach the safety aspects of air travel when patronizing our flights". |
