Six Continents Hotels today announced that it will relinquish management of Centra Camperdown today under mutual agreement with the owner of the property.
Six Continents Hotels undertook management of Centra Camperdown upon acquisition of Southern Pacific Hotel Corporation (SPHC) in April 2000, which preceded commencement of the rollout of the Group's global brands including Inter-Continental, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn.
"Six Continents Hotels plans to complete the re-branding of former SPHC properties within the next six months. Through the application and positioning of our global brands, Six Continents Hotels aims to increase both the international and domestic appeal of properties within its regional portfolio," said Six Continents Hotels' Chief Operating Officer for Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific, Phil Lee.
"We are focussing on properties to which we can contribute significant value and provide a greater return for owners and shareholders. Both parties have agreed that because of its customer base, the positioning of this hotel is best served with a non-global brand."
"Six Continents Hotels is in a strong position to expand its current portfolio and increase the coverage of its global brands in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific throughout 2002 and beyond. The global Group's commitment to this region remains a key driver behind our expansion strategy," Mr Lee added.
