Thai Airways International Public Company Limited will suspend domestic secondary and feeder routes to support P.B. Air and Air Andaman, in accordance with the domestic open skies policy. THAI will introduce aircraft type ATR 72 into operations on the route Bangkok – Sakhon Nakhon, Bangkok – Nakhon Phanom, and Bangkok – Buriram, and adjustments will be made on flights to Nakhon Sri
Thammarat.
Mr. Kobchai Srivilas, Acting President of Thai Airways International Public Company Limited, said that “THAI will suspend 8 secondary and feeder routes flown domestically within Thailand, with effect on 1 May 2002. The decision to suspend these flight sectors was made in support of the Government’s domestic open skies policy, which encourages Thai private air carriers to fly secondary and feeder routes and the promotion of tourism within Thailand.” The 8 routes that have been affected are as follows:
1. Bangkok – Petchaboon – Lampang v.v.
2. Chiang Mai – Nan – Phrae – Phitsanulok v.v.
3. Chiang Mai – Chiang Rai v.v.
4. Bangkok – Mae Sot – Chiang Mai v.v.
5. Bangkok – Phitsanulok – Lampang v.v.
6. Bangkok – Phrae – Nan v.v.
7. Bangkok – Petchaboon v.v.
8. Bangkok – Nakhon Ratchasrima v.v.
THAI will utilize aircraft type ATR 72, equipped with an all-economy class seating capable of accommodating 66 passengers, on flights flown in cooperation with P.B. Air and Air Andaman to Sakhon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, and Buriram. The ATR 72 aircraft will be flown on the route Bangkok – Sakhon Nakhon v.v., Bangkok – Nakhon Phanom v.v., and Bangkok – Buriram v.v., with 2 flights operated per week, effective on 1 May 2002.
THAI has also adjusted flights to Nakhon Sri Thammarat, from previously flown 9 flights per week altered to operations 7 flights per week with daily service having taken effect on 15 April 2002. P.B. Air will support flights on the route Bangkok – Nakhon Sri Thammarat v.v. by operating 6 flights per week, and combined flights flown by P.B. Air and THAI will amount to 13 flights operated to Nakhon Sri
Thammarat.
Suspension of flights on domestic secondary and feeder routes as well as alternation of flights to Nakhon Sri Thammarat will facilitate more passengers than before, aiding the passenger travel experience and providing added convenience.
