Japan Airlines today filed its proposed 2002-03 winter season schedule with the Japanese Civil Aviation Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transportation.
Subject to government approval, the plan, covering the period October 1 2002 to March 31 2003, includes a small number of changes, reflecting changing demand trends, customer convenience, increased competitiveness and profitability.
Service on the Tokyo-Bangkok route will be increased from 14 flights a week by three extra weekly flights to 17 per week a week in October and in November will go up to three flights daily. As a result of greater passenger demand, from November until March 2003 daily service to Bangkok from Osaka (Kansai) will be changed from the current DC-10 to larger 747 aircraft.
Up to now, JAL has provided two-class service on the Tokyo-Bangkok route with wet-leased aircraft and crews from 100% subsidiary JALways, but from October the airline will introduce First class service with JAL 747-400 aircraft on the increased flights (flight number JL703).
As a result of increased demand on the Tokyo-Milan route, from November 1 JAL will increase flight frequency from four to five flights per week with its own aircraft and crews.
