DRAGONAIR FLEET REACHES MILESTONE WITH 20th PASSENGER AIRCRAFT

27 June 2002

Dragonair has taken delivery of its third new aircraft this year, an Airbus Industrie A330, which expands its passenger fleet to 20 aircraft.

"This really is a milestone in Dragonair's continuing growth," said Stanley Hui, Dragonair's Chief Executive Officer. "With 20 aircraft in service we are able to offer more choices and more frequencies to the travelling public, and that is reflected in our most extensive summer schedule ever."

He added that the airline's plans to have 26 passenger aircraft in service by the end of 2005 were on track. "The growth in our biggest market, mainland China, and the potential the market there holds is the driver for our fleet expansion plans," Mr. Hui said.

Dragonair has taken delivery of two aircraft this year - an A321 and an A320 - both in March. The airline plans to take delivery of one more passenger aircraft later this year, another A330, due to enter service in early next year.

The new, purchased A330 is powered by two engines from Rolls-Royce, and features a twin-aisle, triple-class cabin with seating capacity for 18 passengers in First Class, 42 in Business Class and 230 in Economy Class.

The aircraft will enter service early next month on the Beijing, Shanghai and Kaohsiung routes from Hong Kong.

With the arrival of the A330, Dragonair's fleet has an average age of 3.3 years, one of the youngest in the world.

Dragonair is a Hong Kong-based airline, operating a fleet of eight A330-300s (including the arrival of the latest), four A321s and eight A320s, in addition to two Boeing 747-300 freighters. The airline's passenger network covers 27 destinations across the Asia-Pacific region, while its cargo network connects the markets of Europe, the Middle East, Japan and China.
