During the world famous “Wiesn” (the Oktoberfest’s local tag meaning ‘meadow’), Thai Airways International
will be serving traditional Bavarian specialities to passengers both in the Royal First Class and the Royal Executive (Business) Class on its flight from Germany to Bangkok.
From now until October 6, 2002, Thai Airways International
will offer travellers a fine selection of traditional Bavarian “Schmankerl”, as delicious food is called. On flights departing from Frankfurt, the menu includes Bavarian “Weisswurste” (white veal sausages) with salt pretzels, roast pork knuckles in their own juice with potato dumplings and Bavarian cabbage followed by a dessert of fried apple rings with a sprinkling of cinnamon and sugar, bathed in vanilla sauce. On this occasion the selection of on board beverages also includes “Erdinger Weiss Beer”.
First Class passengers taking off from Munich will also have an
intriguing choice of Bavaria’s regional culinary favourites – canapes with a generous spread of O’batzda (creamed Camembert mixed with onions, paprika and butter); or “Leberkase” (ham and pork liver meatloaf), grandma style bread soup, smoked fillet of trout with a mango-ginger dressing, roast stuffed veal breast accompanied by potato dumplings as well as delicious dessert of apple beignets topped with vanilla sauce and vanilla ice cream. As a special treat, THAI offers Oktoberfest beer on demand to go with these
Bavarian favourites.
Thai Airways International’s winter schedule offers 15 weekly non-stop flights from Germany to Bangkok, including 11 flights from Frankfurt and four flights per week from Munich.
The Munich Oktoberfest is the world’s largest fun fair and takes place for the 169th time this year. Six million visitors each year enjoy the atmosphere, the beer and Bavarian hospitality. |
