Japan Airlines and Emirates, the international airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), have agreed to inaugurate code share flights between Osaka and Dubai from October 1st, subject to government approval.
Under the agreement, JAL will code share on Emirates four non-stop flights a week from October 1st between Dubai International Airport and Osaka's Kansai International Airport. All four flights will be operated with Emirates' Boeing 777-200 aircraft and flight and cabin crew. The new flights will improve business and tourist access to the Middle East from Japan.
The code share agreement also includes JAL domestic connecting flights to and from Kansai International Airport between Tokyo, Fukuoka and Sapporo- with through check in on days of the JAL-Emirates' Osaka-Dubai operation.
JAL previously flew to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates from June 1978 until April 1990, when service was suspended.
In addition to the code share flights, JAL and Emirates will also link their frequent flyer programmes (FFP) from October 1, enabling members of the JAL Mileage Bank (JMB) to earn miles on Emirates' international services and members of Emirates' "Skywards" FFP to earn miles on JAL international flights.
