SriLankan Airlines' Business Class passengers to use Emirates' First and Business facilities in Dubai

Travel News Asia 25 September 2002

SriLankan Airlines' Business Class passengers travelling from Dubai to Colombo now have the same facilities available to Emirates' First and Business Class passengers at Dubai International Airport.

Emirates is SriLankan's strategic partner and has an equity stake in the latter.

The new check-in terminal for First and Business passengers at Dubai International Airport is designed to make flying from Dubai quicker and smoother than ever with 10 check in counters.

The terminal is also open to Gold and Silver members of Skywards, SriLankan and Emirates' joint frequent flyer programme, regardless of the type of ticket they buy.

An expanded lounge for Emirates' Business Class customers will shortly be opened and will also be available for SriLankan's Business Class customers travelling from Dubai. The lounge will also be available to Skywards' Gold and Silver members.

The new terminal's customised interior is designed to be stylish, fresh, modern and ultra-comfortable, with emphasis on natural light, calm and space to make checking in a relaxing and pleasurable experience.

The new terminal's amenities will include the very latest internet kiosks. Skywards' members will have a separate desk to check their Miles and send emails. The lounge will have stylish leather seats, though only a few, as its aim is to allow customers to board with maximum speed and minimum formality. Concierge staff and porters will be on hand to assist passengers.

Importantly, there will also be fast track immigration and security channels within the terminal, which will be extended to SriLankan's Business Class passengers.

This premium check-in terminal has been a multi-million dollar venture and is the first of its kind in the Middle East. It is located at the far end of the airport departure gates, next to the offices of the Department of Civil Aviation.

SriLankan's Managing Director Tim Clark who is also Emirates' Chief Director (Airline) says: "This highly impressive new facility is in harmony with our whole approach to services for business travellers. It will make their trip as hassle-free as possible, as just one of our many innovations to make flying more efficient and enjoyable for our regulars'."
