Finnair celebrates Oktoberfest on flights to Germany

Finnair passengers can celebrate Oktoberfest between September 25 and October 1. Finnair Catering has cooked up German delicacies such as venison sausages, cabbage dishes, Bratwurst sausages and cheese rosti for this special week. In business class, the sausages are served with mustard made according to the Finnair Catering chef's own recipe.

Special Oktoberfest dishes are served on day and afternoon flights between Helsinki and Germany. On flights from Germany to Finland, German beer is also served.

The Munich Oktoberfest is one of the world's oldest events. It is organised this year for the 185th time and only wars and epidemics have ever interrupted the tradition. The first Oktoberfest was celebrated in 1810 in the form of a horse race. The 2002 Oktoberfest takes place between September 21 and October 6. Munich once again welcomes travellers from all over the world to come and enjoy beer, delicious food, good company and music.

Finnair flies to Munich twice daily on weekdays and once a day on weekends.

"Some of our Munich flights are already fully booked, but there are still flights with available seats," says Revenue and Yield Management Director Lassi Ronkkonen from Finnair Marketing Group.

Finnair flies to a total of six destinations in Germany: Hamburg, Berlin, Munich, Dusseldorf and Frankfurt. The newest route to Stuttgart in southern Germany was launched on August 26. The Stuttgart route is operated twice daily on weekdays with Finnair partner Golden Air's 50 seat Saab 2000 aircraft.
