With the summer vacations just around the corner, resident families and visitors begin to plan their holidays. Some of them plan to go out of town, but research conducted last year showed that more and more families are planning to split their vacations into two major portions - major part of which they spend in Dubai enjoying the festivities of the Dubai Summer Surprises theme 'Big Fun for Little Ones'.
Dubai Summer Surprises this year will begin on June 20th with a calendar, which includes over 300 events meant mainly for families.
An Egyptian national, Ahmed Owaita, a resident of Al Ain, and his family of three, spend their vacations according to the choice of the children. Says Ahmed, "The children have an excellent choice of activities in Dubai. Last year they visited the Modhesh Fun City several times - spending time participating in drawing competitions and playing video games. While the children are keeping themselves busy, my wife and I love to shop and watch the DSS events and activities."
Raja Mahmoud Rawa from Lebanon prefers to spend his summers in Dubai, since he can attend to business meetings while his family can enjoy themselves in the malls.
Says Raja, "Last year, we went to Al Ghurair more than 10 times during our stay here. There was a Baskin Robbins competition that we took part in and we won. Within our daily routine, we would check the daily calendar of events for DSS in the newspaper and then plan our day accordingly."
Fauzia Ahmed, Mohammed Ahmed and Mariam Ahmed, residents of UAE spend a month of their summers in Europe and the rest of it here in Dubai. Fauzia, the eldest child in the family said, "Modhesh Fun City was a great place last year, and we used to spend most of our day at the Fun City watching the fun-filled stage shows. The Water and the Ice Surprises were the most amazing, and every evening we used to fight to decide on which mall to visit."
Qatari national, Rashid Obdallah and his son are on a tour to Dubai. Rashid said, "We visited the Modhesh Fun City and the Creek Park last year. Skiing in the Winter Fun City was exciting too. This year, when we come during DSS, I will make sure that my son becomes a member of the Modhesh Fun Club."
Saudi visitor, Raeed Ismail, father of two has already visited Dubai thrice this year. Raeed said, "Dubai Summer Surprises is the ideal family destination. I have come to Dubai with my family during the summers three times and I find that each year the quality of the events and the activities keep on improving. Al Shindagah, according to me is a place that families should visit to reconnect with our cultural heritage."
