A new milestone has been reached in Finnair's e-ticket development. Finnair
is starting e-ticket interline cooperation with its oneworld alliance
partner American Airlines. This cooperation makes it possible to include
flights of both airlines in the same itinerary and e-ticket.
Interline cooperation enables both airlines to issue e-tickets including
flights with both airlines. Thus, if need arises and fare type allows,
passenger may be rebooked between Finnair and American Airlines flights
without having to print out a paper copy of the ticket first. Initially sale
will begin in the airlines' own ticket offices but by the end of summer
2002, travel agencies in the Baltic Sea region will be able to issue
e-tickets as well.
Finnair's e-ticket network consists of domestic, Scandinavian and German
routes as well as Tallinn, Amsterdam and New York. Electronic tickets, which
were launched by Finnair in spring 2000, are now used by over 40 % of
Finnair's domestic passengers. Currently more than 65 % of AA's passengers
choose electronic tickets. |
