Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has shown its commitment to increasing its
rapidly expanding Korean business by appointing a representative, Gene K.
Jung, and setting up a new toll-free reservations number for Korea. The
largest Asian-based luxury hotel group in the region has seen its room
nights from Korea grow by almost 40% year on year.
Based in Seoul, Mr Jung's role is to increase Shangri-La's brand and sales
presence in Korea, to develop trade and press contacts, and to organise
promotional activities. The new toll-free reservations number
(007-988-521-6888) will provide an additional service for Koreans wishing
to travel to any of Shangri-La's 38 properties. They can request
information, check rates and make bookings at the group's five-star
Shangri-La and four-star Traders hotels at no cost at all.
Commenting on the Korean market, Carmen Lam, Shangri-La's group director of
sales and marketing, said: 'We are delighted to see such healthy growth in
room nights from Korea, especially in the honeymoon market. Our resorts,
key city hotels, Philippine properties and hotels in the north east of
China have seen the largest increase in Korean business. With 16 hotels
in mainland China and a number of new hotel projects opening soon in the
country, Shangri-La is well placed to appeal to Korean visitors travelling
to China as well as to the rest of Asia Pacific.
'We are committed to growing our business from Korea even further and our
appointment of a representative based in Seoul, combined with a new
toll-free line, shows that we want to make doing business with Shangri-La
as easy as possible.'
Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has nearly 20,000 rooms located in the
Chinese mainland, Fiji, Hong Kong SAR, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar,
Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand. |
