Cathay Pacific Airways today officially launched the "Best of Hong Kong e-Card Message Contest" which offers 1,000,000 miles in prizes from Asia Miles - The Travel Reward Programme Asia - to people who can write the best "e-card" saying what makes Hong Kong one of the world's top tourist destinations.
Competition entrants are asked to write a message of 150 words or less saying why Hong Kong is a great place to visit. The message must follow one of these four themes: Food, Shopping, Entertainment and Places of Interest.
Each month for the next three months Cathay Pacific will pick the best e-card entry. The top winner will receive 20,000 Asia Miles - enough for a round trip economy class ticket from Hong Kong to Taipei. Miles can also be used to redeem goods and services from Asia Miles' partners.
The runner-up will receive 15,000 Asia Miles, the third-place winner 10,000 Asia Miles and 5,000 Asia Miles will go to the next eight best entries. In all, there will be 44 Asia Miles prizes given away every month.
Anyone of any nationality is able to enter - in English or Chinese. By entering the contest entrants can also become an Asia Miles member free of charge.
The e-card competition rounds off the "Cathay Pacific - The World's Biggest Welcome" campaign to boost tourism in Hong Kong. Winning entries will be posted on the Cathay Pacific Web site.
Cathay Pacific Airways General Manager Corporate Communications Alan Wong said: "As an extension to 'Cathay Pacific - the World's Biggest Welcome' campaign, the 'Best of Hong Kong' e-card Message Contest places Hong Kong on the world map where fascinating stories on Hong Kong will be received from around the world".
"Cathay Pacific - The World's Biggest Welcome" was launched in January. The airline gave away 10,000 return air tickets for Hong Kong residents to invite their overseas friends and relatives to visit Hong Kong between April and July this year.
