The Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) is leading a 15-strong Dubai travel industry delegation to participate in a series of roadshows covering five key cities across Russia starting from 2nd September to 6th September.
“Russia is a major source of visitors to Dubai and the DTCM works round the year to attract more Russian business and leisure visitors to Dubai, through our marketing activities in Russia,” said DTCM Director Operations and Marketing, Mohammed Khamis bin
Hareb.
He noted that Dubai’s hotel establishments received over 200,000 guests from Russia last year and there are currently 459 Russian tour operators offering Dubai packages.
Mr. bin Hareb added, “The DTCM has stepped up its promotional activity across Russia, the CIS and the Baltic States in a drive to attract increased business and leisure traffic to Dubai from a market that offers considerable potential.”
“Roadshows provide an exceptional platform to access the Russian market, and establish new business contacts as well as renew existing ones with Russian travel agents and meet a very keen travel trade audience,” remarked Mr. bin
Hareb.
He added, “The five cities, namely Moscow, Rostov-on-Don, Samara, Ekaterinburg and Kazan were chosen because of the large volumes of travelers they generate for Dubai and we already have confirmations of attendance from 250 travel trade professionals in Moscow and over 100 in each of the other four cities.”
In view of the growing passenger traffic on this sector, many Russian carriers including Aeroflot and Ural Airlines operate flights between Moscow - Dubai and Ekaterinburg - Dubai. Meanwhile, a large number of tourists from the CIS arrive by specially chartered flights.
The department’s other major promotions in the Russian market include participation in Leisure and Moscow International Travel and Tourism Fair.
The DTCM is also conducting a joint promotion in conjunction with Alpha Tours, Desert Adventures, Planet Tours, Royal Park Tourism and Aviamost Advertising as part of its support to the private sector in Dubai to generate more business and popularize Dubai in Russian and CIS markets.
Public and private sector co-participants joining the DTCM at the promotions in Russia include Net Group of Companies (Co-sponsor), Golden Sands Hotel Apartments (Co-sponsor), Desert Adventures Tourism, Royal Park Tourism Services, Passage To Arabia, Alpha Tours, Department of Civil Aviation - Dubai, Travco Travel Dubai, Metropolitan Hotels International, Fairmont Dubai, Al Bustan Residence Hotel Apartments, JW Marriott Hotel Dubai, Dusit Dubai Hotel, Avari Hotel Dubai and Planet Travel Tours & Cargo.
