Six Continents Hotels has entered into a contract with hotel holding company, Golden Swan Investments (Australia) Pty Ltd to re-brand the Furama Darling Harbour as Holiday Inn Darling Harbour - a strategic placement for one of the world's most familiar global hotel brands.
Situated in Sydney's CBD, adjacent to the Sydney Entertainment Centre and at the centre of the Darling Harbour convention, dining and shopping districts, the 304 room hotel will take on the Holiday Inn brand as of 6 June, 2002.
With the Holiday Inn branding finalised, the hotel is continuing with its refurbishment program that will include upgrading of the lobby and ongoing soft refurbishment of all guest rooms in line with Holiday Inn standards.
"Holiday Inn's domestic and international appeal makes it a perfect match for this hotel, especially considering Darling Harbour's popularity with both meetings and leisure travellers," said Six Continents Hotels' Chief Operating Officer for Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific, Phil Lee.
"Our existing Holiday Inn hotels in The Rocks, Potts Point and at Sydney Airport are all based in key business and entertainment districts. Upon re-branding, this hotel will become a valuable addition to our Sydney portfolio of Holiday Inn hotels," Mr Lee said.
"After investigating many options and considering our location in the convention, business and tourist precinct, we identified Holiday Inn as the best match and the most powerful brand for this hotel," said Executive Director of Golden Swan Investments (Australia) Pty Ltd, William Ng.
Furama Darling Harbour features an executive lounge, banquet and conference facilities in addition to Shipley's restaurant, JB's Bar and Grill and leisure facilities including a gymnasium, spa, sauna, steam room and gaming room.
Holiday Inn Darling Harbour will become the fifteenth Holiday Inn for Six Continents Hotels in Australia, the nineteenth for the Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific region and the 86th Holiday Inn hotel for the Asia Pacific region. |
