KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will launch twice daily round-trip service between the Scottish city of Aberdeen and Stavanger in Norway on August 25, 2002. The service will be operated with Fokker 70 equipment. A fourth daily flight between Amsterdam and Aberdeen will be added to the KLM timetable to facilitate the new service. This additional round-trip flight connects seamlessly with the global route network operated by KLM and partner airlines from the Amsterdam Schiphol hub.

The new Aberdeen-Stavanger service connects Northern Europe's two major oil/offshore markets. Daily early morning and early evening round-trip flights have been scheduled to offer the best possible service to these business markets. The Fokker 70 is a regional jet seating 80 passengers, the optimum capacity for profitable operation on this route.

KLM and its regional partners have built up strong market positions both in Scotland and Norway, providing excellent connections to Amsterdam and onwards to the global network of KLM and partner airlines. These strong market positions in Norway and Scotland deliver the customer base and market clout required to enable the new point-to-point operation between Aberdeen and Stavanger.

The new nonstop service between both cities is an extension of KLM's commitment to the business communities in Norway and Scotland.

KLM already operates 3 daily round-trips between Amsterdam and Aberdeen, and between Amsterdam and Stavanger.
