In compliance with FAA order, China Airlines has installed security bars on cockpit doors of its B747-400, B737-800 and A340-300 fleets. FAA issued the security order after the 911 terrorist attack. All foreign airlines flying into the US must fulfill its first stage requirement within 90 days. China Airlines finished the installation by the end of November, 2001.
According to the second stage requirement which will be issued by FAA later this week, it is mandatory that all foreign airlines flying to the US will be installed with bullet-proof and collision-proof cockpit doors of the airplanes by April 9, 2003. China Airlines announced its compliance with the order and will complete the installation prior to the deadline.
