All Nippon Airways (ANA), announced passenger bookings for the ANA Group airlines, ANA, Air Nippon (ANK), Air Japan (AJX) and Air Hokkaido (ADK) for the Golden Week holiday period from Saturday, April 27 through Monday, May 6.
Golden Week is one of Japan's most famous holiday periods and encompasses a series of national holidays that includes the former emperor's birthday, now Green Day, Constitution Day, Citizen's Day and Chidren's Day. This year an extra day was figured in on Monday, May 6 as Children's Day fell on a Sunday.
On the domestic front, reservations remained level at approximately 1.3 million bookings, rising 0.5% compared to the previous year. A bright spot for ANA was the resort island of Okinawa, where bookings increased 11.6% compared with the year before.
On international operations, approximately 10.8 thousand reservations were booked marking a year-on-year decrease of 12%. The decline included revisions in the Group's network that resulted in a reduction of available seats. ANA's trans-Pacific flights continued a recovery trend as bookings declined only 21% in sharp contrast to a 28.5% reduction in available seats.
