Dragonair's passenger and cargo numbers posted a year-on-year increase in October. The airline flew 80,346 more travellers than in the same month last year, up 30.78%.
"Passenger numbers overall continued to rise, with the bulk of that increase being accounted for by business traffic," said Stanley Hui, Chief Executive Officer of Dragonair. "The month saw the group leisure market weaken somewhat, reflecting the general economic situation in the region."
Cargo, which has continued an upward trend throughout the year, posted a double-digit jump in October of 58.39% when compared with one year earlier.
"The amount of cargo carried in October was yet another new monthly record for us - the fifth monthly record we have seen set so far this year," said Mr. Hui. "This maintains the upward momentum this year, despite the National Day holiday in China Mainland at the beginning of the month."
Dragonair is a Hong Kong-based airline, operating a fleet of eight A330-300s, four A321s and eight A320s, in addition to three Boeing 747-300 freighters. The airline's passenger network covers 28 destinations across the Asia-Pacific region, while its cargo network connects the markets of Europe, the Middle East, Japan, Taiwan and China Mainland. |
