Hundreds of jazz fans are to descend upon Hua Hin, one of Thailands most popular beach resorts, for a swinging jazz festival to be organised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) between 21-23 June.
To be jointly organised with the Hua Hin Hoteliers Club, Hua Hin Municipality Administration and Prachuap KiriKhan Provincial Administration, Hua Hin Beach Jazz Festival is designed to help boost the citys as a world-class destination.
About 4,000 visitors and local residents living in nearby provinces are expected to enjoy the event which will be held from 18:00-22:00 hours on each of the three days.
Performing at the event will be 14 Thai and international bands featuring pop jazz, Latin jazz, rock and blues, hip-hop jazz, march jazz, swing and Thai jazz. These include Boy Thai, jazz bands of Silpakorn and Mahidol Universities, Saxophone Pub from Thailand as well as Eldee Young and Asia Beat from Malaysia, and Chris & Willy from Singapore.
One of the highlights will be a performance by Thailand's best-known jazz musician Thewan Supsaenyakorn and his band who will be performing for the first time at the festival.
The main stage will be located near the Clock Tower (on Nap Kehas Road off Phetchakasem Highway) while six hotels -- the Sofitel Central Hua Hin, Hilton Hua Hin Resort and Spa, Hyatt Regency Hua Hin, Anantara Resort and Spa, Dusit Resort and Polo Club, and Hua Hin Marriott Resort and Spa -- will organise supplementary events.
TAT Acting Governor and Deputy Governor for Marketing Mrs. Juthamas Siriwan commented, The Hua Hin Beach Jazz Festival will create a wider range of activities for visitors to enjoy during their visit to this beach resort and encourage them to come back.
Hua Hin is the countrys oldest beach resort, having been popularised by Thai royalty in the 1920s. Located about 200 kilometres south of Bangkok, Hua Hin today attracts about 200,000 international tourists a year in addition to residents of Bangkok and nearby provinces.
A number of world-class golf courses, hotels and resorts, health and spa facilities have put Hua Hin even more into the international spotlight. Hua Hin and its sister resort Cha-am are among the seven magnificent destinations on the West coast of Thailand being promoted under the slogan Royal Paradise. |
