Six Continents Hotels has appointed a new General Manager for its Holiday Inn On Flinders Melbourne, Anne Jamieson - the first woman to be appointed as a hotel General Manager within Six Continents Hotels' Australian portfolio.
Previously Director of Marketing for Holiday Inn hotels in Melbourne, Anne's extensive sales and marketing experience will be an asset to the operational role of General Manager and will put her in the position to become one of the Company's strongest operators.
"Anne has been one of Six Continents Hotels' most proactive and successful Sales and Marketing executives. This is a natural progression for someone who has helped to drive our Melbourne network of Holiday Inn hotels, and I look forward to seeing her ingenuity and understanding of the hotel industry applied to an operational role," said Six Continents Hotels Chief Operating Officer for Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific, Phil Lee.
"Hotel General Managers are virtually all men in this region, yet women make up around half the number of business travelers - and that number is growing. The appointment of highly-skilled people like Anne to General Manager roles will increase our ability to relate to, and provide better value for our changing customer base."
Anne will work directly with the new Director of Operations for Victoria, Queensland, ACT and Northern Territory, Jan Smits. Andrew Loader, who is currently Director of Sales for Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania for Six Continents Hotels, will also take on the role of Director of Marketing for Victoria and the ACT.
"Jan and Anne will be a perfect combination for the Melbourne market. Supported by Andrew's strong expertise in sales and marketing, I am confident that the three of them, along with the rest of the formidable team, will make a significant difference to our Victorian operations and enhance the performance of the Holiday Inn brand," Mr Lee added. |
