The luxurious Shilla Hotel Seoul an official hotel for FIFA VIP members and guests during the 2002 World Cup Korea-Japan is getting its own team trained up for this major international sporting event, with the creation of a special elite "Dream Team" to look after World Cup VIPs and other important international visitors.
The hotel, which is owned by the Samsung Group and is Koreas only member of The Leading Hotels of The World, has handpicked 30 of its top staff, 25 of them female and 5 male, for a four-month, intensive World Cup preparation training, which will enable them to act as service ambassadors to the important foreign guests who will be staying at the hotel during the World Cup from May 31st to June 30th, 2002.
The classes include advanced English and Japanese language skills, schooling in the differences between Western and Eastern cultures, appreciation of international food and wines and even classes in golf to help them converse with VIP guests who may be spending some of their leisure time on the golf course. At the same time, the team are also taking classes in traditional Korean manners to help them project an image of traditional Korean hospitality to guests. In addition to the "Dream Team", all the hotels other staff are being given special training courses to prepare them for looking after hotel guests during the event. The hotels normal training budget has been doubled in preparation for the event.
