Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI)
has received the Disclosure Award 2002 from H.E. Mr. Somkid Jatusripitak, Finance Minister and
President of the Security Exchange Commission, for being an exemplary listed
company concerning information disclosure, at a ceremony held at the Plaza
Athenee Hotel, Bangkok.
Mr. Kanok Abhiradee, THAI's President, said THAI is proud to have been
selected for this prestigious award. THAI integrated good governance into
various company functions such as catering. The objective set by THAI's
Management and staff was to be transparent in disclosure of information, as the
source of reliable and credible information to the public.
This year was the first year that the Disclosure Award was presented to
awardees by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Forty listed companies were
selected out of a total of 115 companies that participated in the program. The
award program was initiated to encourage listed companies to set an example for
other companies to engage in good governance in the future and also to establish credibility in the Thai investment market.
The Disclosure Award was initiated this year as part of the government's policy
to support the establishment of good governance in corporations, so that
private sector organizations might become more open in disclosing information. |
