Reed Travel Exhibitions, organisers of International Golf Travel Market (IGTM), have announced that the show is already 75% full with six months to go until the event! IGTM 2002 which will take place in Biarritz, France from 8 - 11 December 2002, is being hosted by Biarritz Tourisme, and will take place in Le Bellevue Convention Centre and Le Casino Municipal.
IGTM is regarded as the premier event for the golf travel industry. It is the only forum where specialist golf tour operators, incentive travel agents and meetings and conference organisers can meet with leading hotels, resorts, airlines and other suppliers of golf related products.
IGTM 2001 exceeded the expectations of the organisers, Reed Travel Exhibitions, with an overall attendance of 460 delegates. The event attracted exhibitors from 31 countries and buyers from 23 countries.
'All destinations that participated at last year's event are returning to IGTM 2002,' says Mark Walsh, Event Manager, IGTM, 'As the show returns to Europe this year, it is no surprise that there is particularly strong representation from France, Spain, Italy and Portugal. Scotland, Ireland and Wales are also maintaining a very strong presence. Early indications show that the USA and the Caribbean will have a stronger representation in Biarritz than in 2001. Other countries represented officially are Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Turkey, Tunisia, Egypt, Morocco, Bahrain, Qatar, South Africa, Kenya and Australia to name but a few.'
The official sponsor of IGTM is IAGTO (International Association of Golf Tour Operators) and many of their members attend the event. This year as an extra incentive to entice IAGTO buyers to IGTM, they will be offered complimentary registration. This initiative has been clearly welcomed by Peter Walton, Chief Executive of IAGTO: "Even at this early stage, 90 of our members have expressed a strong intention to attend the show. The fact that Reed Travel Exhibitions have waived the registration fee for our members this year is great news! We are very confident that a higher proportion of our members will attend IGTM this year.'
'We are also more optimistic for the 2002 event,' adds Walsh, 'Last year's IGTM took place relatively soon after the tragic events of September 11th which really shook the entire travel industry. After speaking to many exhibitors and buyers this year, the general perception amongst the industry is that the worst is now over. Following early indications, I am hopeful that IGTM 2002 will have the best attendance in the event's history.'
All IGTM 2002 delegates will also benefit from discounted flights courtesy of Air France, who are the Official Carrier for the event.
