Trade Days : September 19 - 20, 2002
General Public Days : September 21 - 22, 2002
As the global demand for health and well-being lifestyle products and services surges ahead, the Tourism Authority of Thailand has made the promotion of health travel, one of Thailand's leading niche products, a key marketing objective reflected in the country's tourism promotion plans.
With a total of over 500 participating exhibitors, from Thailand and overseas, representing hospitals, modern medical services, rehabilitation services, and medical equipment suppliers, spa resorts, wellness centers, suppliers of traditional, herbal and aromatherapy products, beauty products, cosmetics, perfumes, skin, body and hair care products, health food and beverage companies, pharmaceutical products, beauty salons, fitness centers and sports clubs, The Thailand Health and Beauty Show 2002 is expected to further reinforce Thailand's positioning as a regional health and beauty centre. Over 2,500 overseas buyers are expected at this year's event.
The Thailand Health and Beauty Show in 2001 featured 438 booths representing 318 seller companies consisting of manufacturers, exporters, merchandisers and service providers related to the health and beauty industry from Thailand, Japan, China, Singapore, Taiwan, Denmark, Austria, India and Germany. The event attracted a total of 1,578 registered buyers, of which 384 were from Asian and European countries, Australia, USA, Canada, and South Africa. Approximately 50,000 visitors including tourists attended on the public days.
Given the country's wealth of practitioners in modern medicine as well as those that specialise in the art of natural healing, the Thai government is promoting traditional health and healing techniques because the approach focuses on prevention, rather than cure. It also draws on indigenous resources and contributes to the preservation of tropical plants and the local heritage. Thai herbs, cuisine and medicine as well as health and beauty products are a part of daily life and are used extensively in more than 700 long-stay health care facilities, spas and resorts in Thailand. Health and wellness products are estimated to generate annual revenues of over 4 billion baht for the Thai economy.
