Airbus comes to the Farnborough International Air Show (22-28 July) after an extremely encouraging performance so far in 2002, despite the industry downturn. In the first six months of the year, Airbus delivered 160 aircraft, in line with its announced and confirmed objective of 300 deliveries this year. It also obtained certification for its latest and largest aircraft in production, the long-haul, high capacity A340-600 and is putting two other new models, the 100-seat A318 and the ultra-long-haul A340-500 through their certification
programmes.
Airbus will be present with a hospitality chalet (Row D Units 5-10) and a dedicated press suite with its own separate entrance. It will also have a stand (Hall 5 Stand Number A1-2) to highlight its products and services. The main display features a full scale A340-600 cabin mock-up and includes scale replicas of other Airbus aircraft such as the A340-500, the A318 and the A380 superjumbo, supplemented with video displays. The freighter family is also represented with models of the A300-600F, the A330-200F and the A380F. In addition, informative videos and live coverage of Airbus flight displays and other key events will be broadcast on large plasma screens.
On Tuesday 23rd July, Airbus will hold a press conference at 9.45 a.m., in the press conference room "Radlett Suite" in the Press Centre. Further media briefings are also to be expected during the course of the week.
Several Airbus aircraft will participate in the flying displays during the show: the A318, the A340-500, the A340-600 in Virgin Atlantic Airways livery and the A330-200 in Qatar Airways colours. A Qatar Airways Airbus Corporate Jetliner and an A340-600, in Airbus livery, which both arrive on 22 July, will be on static display for the greater part of the week.
A special daily edition of Airbus' on-line magazine, Airbus4U @ Farnborough, will provide live coverage of events at the show, live video, a guided tour of the stand, a virtual guest book as well as all the news and background information throughout the show. It will also feature an exhibition of photographs taken at Airbus sites around the world. This special edition of Airbus4U can be found on Airbus ' corporate website,
