Cathay Pacific Airways announced its participation in the iPermit scheme that enables Taiwan residents to apply for iPermits through appointed travel agents via the Internet. The service comes into effect today.
Approved applicants will be able to pick up their iPermits upon arrival at Hong Kong International Airport from a special service counter near Gate 21 on the arrival level that is operated by TTOA, an agent appointed jointly by Cathay Pacific, China Airlines, Hong Kong Dragon Airlines and EVA Airways.
Applicants should hold a valid Taiwan ID and a travel document valid for re-entry into Taiwan for at least six months. Successful applicants will receive an e-notification in Taiwan, which they can use to collect their iPermits in Hong Kong.
Cathay Pacific's General Manager Hong Kong International Airport Victor Ho said: "We are very pleased to provide this new service. The convenience of this new facility will result in more travellers coming from Taiwan, as with the new iPermit it will be much easier for them to pack-up and go."
