Marriott
International (NYSE:MAR) continues its growth in London with the
356-room Renaissance London Chancery Court Hotel in central London. This
is the first Renaissance hotel and the sixth Marriott International
branded- hotel in central London.
The London Renaissance Chancery Court hotel is owned by Hotel Property
Investors. The general manager is Heinz Volland.
Introductory rates of L180 or US$270 are available until the end of
February.
Set amidst the history and tradition of Londons legal district, the
Renaissance London Chancery Court surrounds guests with luxurious
accommodations and amenities, as well as the conveniences of modern
technology. The landmark building, which was the headquarters of the
Pearl Assurance Company from 1914 until 1989, is just a short walk to
Londons famous theater district, Covent Gardens, the British Museum and
St. Pauls Cathedral, among other attractions. The High Holborne subway
station is located a half block from the hotel.
Guests enter the Renaissance London Chancery Court from a grand
courtyard and are greeted in the lobby by a soaring seven-story marble
staircase. Special effort was made to preserve the hotels historic
interiors, including seven different types of marble, five of which are
extinct; the bronze gates at the entrance to the hotel; the Swedish
green marble ionic columns; and the rare Cuban mahogany paneled
boardrooms.
Guest rooms feature the latest in technology such as data port
connections for modems and fax hook-ups, high-speed Internet access,
telephones with two lines, conference and speaker capabilities and 110
and 240 volt electrical outlets. In addition, each room has an in-room
safe, refrigerator with in-room refreshments, individually controlled
air-conditioning, bathrobes, hair dryer, coffee/tea-making facilities
and complimentary newspaper. There are 14 suites, seven
wheelchair-accessible rooms and four rooms equipped with emergency
facilities for the hearing impaired, such as vibrating pillows and
flashing beacons. The Renaissance Club Floor, located on the hotels
third floor, features a private club lounge serving refreshments
throughout the day. Guests may take advantage of the hotels spa and
health club.
For dining and entertainment, guests can choose from QC, the hotels
main restaurant serving modern British cuisine and located in the
buildings original banking hall; The Lounge, located in the lobby and
serving light breakfast, afternoon tea and cocktails; and the Bar at
Chancery Court, the main bar located in the original banking hall and
serving cocktails from noon until midnight. Guests may also order from
the 24-hour room service.
The Renaissance London Chancery Court offers several options for meeting
space: the ballroom, which is 4,200 square feet and divisible into three
sections; 12 individual meetings rooms capable of accommodating 10-50
people, including the buildings two original boardrooms, which feature
rare Cuban mahogany and marble fireplaces. For business travelers, the
hotel has a 24-hour business center in the main lobby.
