Sharm El
Sheikh resort becomes full-service brand’s third Egyptian property
The Middle East’s newest Holiday Inn resort development will capitalise
on its unique location and natural assets when it opens shortly in Sharm
El Sheikh, Egypt.
The Holiday Inn Resort Amphoras Sharm El Sheikh, set to welcome its
first guests next month (September 4, 2001), occupies a prime beach and
sea front location overlooking the famous “Amphoras” diving site, and
has 272 rooms, 24 suites, 38 sea-view villas and 152 chalets all
offering a choice of sea, pool, garden or lakeside views.
The hotel becomes Egypt’s third Holiday Inn resort property, while
another four Holiday Inn hotels are under development and will open by
the end of next year in Alexandria, Cairo, Hurghada and Ras Sudr.
“The property has a unique location with excellent diving advantages,
and we believe it will become one of the leading resort hotels not only
in Sharm El Sheikh, but the whole of the Middle East,” said David
Atkinson, area director, sales and marketing, Holiday Inn, Six
Continents Hotels, Middle East and Africa.
“Added to our two existing resort hotels at Safaga and Sharm El Sheikh,
the new resort gives us a major presence in Egypt, which is a vital
destination in our regional development programme.”
Golf enthusiasts can take advantage of an 18-hole golf course only 12km
from the Holiday Inn Resort Amphoras Sharm El Sheikh, while the resort’s
own superb range of sports and leisure facilities include a diving
centre, six outdoor swimming pools with children’s pools, water sports,
tennis and squash courts, beach volleyball, billiard room, health club,
sauna, jacuzzis, gym and horse riding.
Guests can choose from a variety of dining and entertainment options;
the resort’s 540-capacity restaurant, seaside restaurant, coffee shop,
cocktail bar, beach café, six pool terraces and nightclub.
The resort also offers complimentary airport, city centre and Naama Bay
shuttle transfers, golf cars for internal transport, parking, a shopping
centre, bank, meeting and conference facilities for 300 persons,
hairdressing salon, and safe deposit facilities.
The opening of the Holiday Inn Resort Amphoras Sharm El Sheikh will
further strengthen Six Continents Hotels’ commitment to achieving
excellence in all its brands, in every area of the world. Already the
most global hotel company, with properties in close to 100 countries,
Six Continents Hotels has developed a plan to further enhance that
position through dramatic growth. The investment will entail adding new
