United
Airlines’ (NYSE: UAL) Mileage Plus Program announced that it is offering
its members the opportunity to earn double Mileage Plus miles for travel
on United and United Express from October 4 through November 15, 2001.
“As we continue to recover from the events of September 11th, we applaud
and support the U.S. Administration’s leadership in encouraging the
resumption of travel,” said Larry De Shon, senior vice president of
marketing for United. “As the world continues to take to the skies, we
are pleased to offer our customers these exciting accrual and redemption
opportunities.”
The offer applies to Mileage Plus members worldwide who purchase and fly
any published fare in any booking class. Bonus miles apply to base
flight miles only and do not apply toward Premier status. This offer may
be combined with other offers.
In addition, United announced a Travel Award Sale for Mileage Plus
members worldwide. Members can now redeem a free round-trip
economy-class ticket for travel between Asia and North America for just
40,000 miles. These awards must be ticketed and travel must be completed
by the dates shown in the chart below.
United Mileage Plus members can easily redeem an award by calling their
local reservations office.
When a reservation is made, the miles are automatically deducted from a
member’s account and an E-Ticket is issued within seconds. There are no
award codes to remember or forms to fill out, and there is no fee for
requesting last-minute award travel.
