Northwest
Airlines has just made it faster and easier for people across Asia to
use their web site. Today the airline unveiled new and improved
integrated web sites across the Asia/Pacific region. The upgraded web
sites are in English, but Asian language sites will also be unveiled in
the next few months. The new sites make it simpler to access information
regarding Northwest, and its popular frequent flyer program WorldPerks,
on each web site, in each country.
“Northwest Airlines is in the midst of a major investment in e-commerce
in Asia and there is much more to come,” said Perry Cantarutti,
director, marketing and distribution planning-Asia/Pacific. “Our
objective is to incorporate the best functionality and content from our
American sites. We are adding local content and features so our
customers in the Asia/Pacific region will have relevant information and
convenient access to Northwest’s services.”
Northwest has re-launched its enhanced local English language web sites
in Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Korea, China, Philippines,
Thailand and Guam-Saipan. The airline has used the core content from its
American web site and included five sections of additional local
information. Residents of the Asia/Pacific region will now have access
to extensive flight information specific to their own country. When
customers log onto their local site they can access information
regarding their WorldPerks account, Northwest promotions, schedules,
press releases and job opportunities. The new design follows that of the
award-winning U.S. homepage, which means consumers are generally able to
access all features in three clicks or less.
“Our customers and international travellers in general are a savvy
group, and they are increasingly asking for more information and
convenience to simplify their travel needs,” said Emilie Bell, manager,
e-commerce development-Asia/Pacific. “Northwest plans to use
internet-based tools as a cornerstone to help meet those demands.”
This is the first in a series of announcements that Northwest plans to
make regarding improvements to its Asian web sites in 2001. In the
coming months customers will see more local and global content as the
airline continues to provide customers with the most up to date
information. In the past year, Northwest’s web site, www.nwa.com has
received several top rankings from some of the most prestigious and
knowledgeable Internet researchers and surveyors. |
