First Suite
now available on company’s entire International Fleet of Boeing 777s and
747s
United Airlines (NYSE: UAL), which in 1999 became the first U.S. carrier
to offer a lie-flat bed in First Class, now has the United First Suite
on its entire international Boeing 777 and 747 fleet. The airline
launched the First Suite on its Boeing 777s, completing installation of
all 47 aircraft in February. This week, United finished installation of
the Suite on the last of its 44 Boeing 747-400s.
“United is committed to improving the travel experience of all of our
international customers that is why we have launched an aggressive
program to offer unparalleled comfort in every class of service,” said
Nicolas E. Ferri, United’s General Sales Manager for Hong Kong. “We are
very pleased to announce the completion of the First Suite on all of our
777 and 747 aircraft in the international fleet, an important milestone
in United’s customer driven initiatives. Customers in Asia-Pacific can
now enjoy this luxurious product whenever they fly with United across
the Pacific and on the intra-Asia routes that we operate out of Hong
Kong. Feedback from customers has been overwhelmingly positive since the
suite was launched.”
The state-of-the-art United First Suite is a personal environment that
can convert from an airborne office to a six-foot, six-inch long bed at
the push of a button. United First Suite customers can enjoy
unparalleled personal space with 78 inches of pitch and a unique
herring-bone layout that places every Suite in the United First class
cabin on an aisle.
The United First Suite offers customers personal video screens that
feature 9 channels of entertainment as well as personal video selections
that are also provided onboard. Multiple audio channels and
noise–reducing headsets complete the entertainment offerings.
For customers who choose to work before relaxing or sleeping, the United
First Suite has all of the amenities needed for an airborne office
including: in-seat phones with data transmission ports; laptop power
outlets and generous personal storage and workspace.
The ergonomically designed seats have adjustable leg and headrests and
lumbar support, and include the patented “back-cycler” mechanism that
provides massage-like relief to customers during long flights.
