QANTAS INCREASES SERVICES TO BUENOS AIRES

Travel News Asia Date: 7 June 2001

Qantas will increase to three the number of weekly services it offers between Australia and Buenos Aires from 31 October 2001.

Qantas Executive General Manager Sales and Distribution, John Borghetti, said the additional Boeing 747-400 service departing Sydney to Buenos Aires via Auckland on Wednesdays would supplement the airline's two weekly services on Fridays and Sundays introduced in November 1998.

"The Buenos Aires services have received a positive response from both leisure and business travellers with strong growth especially from South America to Australia and New Zealand.

"With our new schedule, passengers will have greater flexibility and a wider choice of flights to and from Buenos Aires.

"These additional services to the region will develop further tourism and business growth in one of our key international markets."

Mr Borghetti said the timing of the new service QF115 would be the same as the existing flights departing Sydney at 10.30 am, operating via Auckland and arriving in Buenos Aires at 12.15 pm on the same day.

He said the return flight QF116 would depart Buenos Aires on Thursdays at 12.20 am, operating via Auckland and arriving in Sydney at 8.00 am the following day.
