Swissair to resume its own Geneva-Paris operations

Travel News Asia Date: 7 July 2001

The Swissair Group will be operating the Geneva-Paris route with its own aircraft again from Monday, July 9. The three to four daily frequencies will be provided by Swissair Airbus A319 and Crossair Avro RJ 85/100 aircraft. In a further innovation, the services will operate to and from Paris’s Charles de Gaulle Airport.

The new services replace the codeshare flights previously operated by Air Liberté between Geneva and Paris (Orly). With slots at a premium, the new service pattern will initially feature some irregularities: weekdays and Sundays will have three or four daily frequencies, but Saturdays will see only one daily flight.

Swissair will be striving to enhance this initial service throughout the summer months. Additional flights will be considered, as will an all-Airbus operation. The Geneva-Paris service pattern should then be substantially and permanently enhanced with the start of the winter schedules on October 28. The new service will also feature a special promotional fare of CHF 179 return until the end of July.
