Cathay Pacific welcomes relaxation of Taiwan travel permit

Cathay Pacific Airways today welcomed Taiwan's announcement that Hong Kong and Macau resident can now apply for provisional travel permits after they arrive in Taiwan. This new policy will make it far more convenient for travellers from Hong Kong and Macau to visit Taiwan and help boost trade and tourism links between Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.

The announcement on issuing provisional travel permits was made yesterday by the Taiwanese Government. The policy will come into effect from 8 August and is applicable to all Hong Kong and Macau residents who hold or have ever held valid permits to visit Taiwan. The provisional visa entitles them to stay up to 14 days and can be applied for at either Chang Kai Shek International Airport in Taipei or Kaohsiung International Airport in Kaohsiung.

Cathay Pacific warmly welcomes this new arrangement which provides extra convenience to Hong Kong and Macau residents and facilitates the development of the tourism industry in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.
