HAYMAN NAMED AUSTRALIA'S BEST

Travel News Asia Date: 6 November 2001

Hayman has been named 'Best Accommodation - Luxury Accommodation' in Australia in the 2001 Australian Tourism Awards, for the second successive year.

The award was presented to Hayman General Manager, Lloyd Donaldson, at a prestigious black-tie dinner in Hobart on Friday night, 2 November 2001.

"I am delighted to again accept this very special honour on behalf of a wonderful team of employees who live and work on Hayman and remain committed to providing an outstanding private resort experience," Mr Donaldson said.

"An important thank you must go to our guests and industry partners who continue to allow us to showcase the many unique features of our island destination, and who have remained loyal throughout this disruptive period for travel within Australia and during times of unrest in light of the events of 11 September."

The award comes at a momentous time for Hayman following the recent completion of a two-year $18 million development program which has seen the enhancement of the Pool, Lagoon and Beach Wing accommodation and the creation of fresh, new dining and guest service experiences.

Meanwhile, Hayman continues to head the charge for Australia in 2001 as one of the premier holiday destinations having been named the 'World's Best Beach Resort' in Forbes and having featured prominently in awards including Travel + Leisure's 'World's Best Service Awards' and Conde Nast Traveller's 'Top Overseas Hotels Awards', and in the Zagat Survey of the 'Top Resorts of the World'.

BT Hotel Group owns and operates Hayman, nestled in the spectacular Whitsunday Islands in the Great Barrier Reef, off the coast of northern Queensland.
