DR FAM TO STEP DOWN AS SIA CHAIRMAN

Dr Michael Fam will be stepping down from the Chairmanship of Singapore Airlines (SIA) following the Annual General Meeting on 14 July 2001. He will therefore not be offering himself for re-election as a Director and Chairman of the Board.

Dr Fam has served on the Board for nearly 29 years and is the longest-serving member. He was appointed as a Director on 3 November 1972 and succeeded Mr S Dhanabalan as Chairman on 1 June 1998.

The Board of Directors has recommended that Mr Koh Boon Hwee be appointed to succeed Dr Fam as Chairman, subject to his election as a Director at the forthcoming Annual General Meeting on 14 July 2001.
