Galileo
International, Inc. (NYSE: GLC), a leading provider of electronic global
distribution services (GDS) for the travel industry, today announced
that Computerworld Magazine has rated it as one of the best places to
work for information technology (IT) professionals. Galileo was ranked
41 out of 100 companies, and was the only GDS company included in the
list.
The ‘Top 100 Best Places To Work in IT’ list, published in the June 4
issue of Computerworld, includes companies that provide training,
education and resources; offer flexible and generous benefits packages;
encourage diversity in hiring and provide mentors to minority workers.
The list also recognizes companies that give workers access to projects
that will help them stay challenged; foster an atmosphere of fun,
creativity and respect; and help employees map out and pursue their
career goals.
“Our people are central to Galileo’s success,” said James E. Lubinski,
Galileo’s executive vice president of Operations. “It’s our talented IT
professionals who continually create technological innovations that meet
our customers’ needs.”
Just last year, Galileo product developers introduced Galileo Wireless™,
the industry’s premier suite of travel management services for cell
phones, personal digital assistants (PDAs) and pagers. With Galileo
Wireless, travelers can rebook flights, view itineraries, receive flight
delay notifications, cancel car and hotel reservations, display driving
directions, modify seat assignments and receive weather forecasts. In
addition, Galileo’s IT employees use the latest data management
technology to keep the company’s world-class Data Center, near Denver,
Colo., operating 24 x 7 x 365, with an up-time availability to customers
at greater than 99.9 percent.
“We strive to attract and keep a leading-edge IT staff by providing
great career, work project and training opportunities, a creative work
environment; and great benefits that rank at the top of the high-tech
industry,” said Galileo’s Lyn Bulman, senior vice president of Human
Resources and Corporate Relations. |
